Anton Bauer Adapter for BMCC

One of the downsides to the new Black Magic Cinema Camera has been the inability to swap out batteries.  It comes with an internal battery that will run the cameras for about an hour.  Anton Bauer's announcement that they have created a battery adapter QRC-BMD Gold Mount for the camera might lure potential customers.  Not too many pictures on line as of this posting.

Combined with the Dionic HC battery and Anton Bauer's optional mounting bracket you could mount this baby on your 15mm or 19mm rails and shoot for about 4 hours putting out 91Wh.

Taking apart lighting schemes

I learn more and more from Director of Photography, ASC Shane Hurlbut every day. He posted this article last week but I forgot to post it. Here is his article about lighting with only two lights. Check it out here to learn more.

Video Copilot Element 3D

I probably shouldn't give away all my visualfx secrets but Element 3D is pretty much the greatest After Effects plugin ever so if you haven't seen it you should check it out today.   The huge advantage is that you can import and create 3D extruded images, shapes and projects using OpenGL (not raytraced) .  It's really incredible how fast 3D projects render using this plugin.

Sony PMW-200

Well, you might have seen that Sony released it's successor to the EX1R > The PMW-200 and you might have seen that it now boasts full HD MPEG 4:2:2 and 50Mbps MXF recording which is great but it also has a couple of interesting features you may not have noticed.  Notably, a 15 second pre-record cache (internal memory), an upgraded 852x480 LCD display,  Genlock, Timecode, SD card recording and a WiFi remote (adapter required) that will be released in December.   Check it out here.

No more broken EVF mounts?

Does this new mount mean that the days of broken EVF and monitor arms and mounts are a thing of the past? It's too soon to tell, but I will definitely be keeping an eye out for this bad larry. Check it out here.
